Where has Touch ID log in gone?

I haven’t changed any settings? Password Protection is enabled

I cannot even upload an image here to show you there’s only a Lock on my log in screen, no Touch ID option.

  • This is almost always caused by something at the iOS system level rather than a setting inside Day One itself. Here’s what I’d recommend trying first:

Step 1: Confirm Touch ID is still registered in iOS

Day One relies on iOS to provide the Touch ID option. If iOS has cleared or lost your fingerprints, Day One won’t show the option at all.

    1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
    2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode and enter your device passcode.
    3. Check whether at least one fingerprint is listed under “Use Touch ID For.”
    4. If none are listed, tap Add a Fingerprint and enrol your fingerprint again.

Step 2: Re-toggle the biometric setting inside Day One

Sometimes the connection between Day One and iOS biometrics needs a quick refresh:

    1. Open Day One and go to Settings (tap your profile icon in the top left).
    2. Tap Passcode & Touch ID.
    3. Toggle Touch ID off, then back on.
    4. Close Day One fully (swipe it away from the app switcher) and relaunch it.

Step 3: Check your Day One app version

Make sure you’re running the latest version of Day One from the App Store, as updates occasionally resolve unexpected behaviour in the lock screen.

If none of the above restores the Touch ID option, could you share the following?

    • Your device model (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro)
    • Your iOS version (Settings > General > About)
    • Your Day One app version (Settings > About in Day One)

Thanks. This was for the Mac app and after a couple of restarts it came back, but it was an odd bug that didn’t solve itself after app restarts.
