As the title says my location when adding a new entry keeps defualting to a location I have listed in recent locations but not visited recently but its odd it keeps applying it.

Day One uses your GPS coordinates along with nearby Points of Interest to suggest a location name. When multiple named locations are equidistant from your position (common in apartment buildings, offices, or dense areas), the app picks one automatically, which may not always be the one you want.
Fix 1: Use Saved/Named Locations
The most effective long-term solution is to manually assign the correct location name to an entry — Day One will then automatically apply that same name to other entries whose GPS coordinates fall within a certain radius of that point. Over time this trains the app to consistently use the right name for that spot.

Fix 2: Turn off Auto Apply Point of Interest
If the automatic Point of Interest selection keeps overriding your preferences, you can disable it entirely:
Day One > Settings > Location History > Auto Apply Point of Interest > Toggle Off
With this off, Day One will use your raw GPS coordinates without trying to snap to a nearby named place — you can then name the location yourself.
Give both a try and keep an eye on new entries over the next day or two.
