The Die Hards
-
I have been using Day One since the old version 1.0 days, and have captured countless (technically they can be counted, but you get the idea) memories. When Day One switched to a subscription model, I went along with it — mainly because us longtimers were grandfathered into a discounted Premium plan.
My question is this: Are there plans for a discounted Gold tier for us who have been there from the beginning? I’m not asking for something-for-nothing, but it’d be nice to have our dedication rewarded.

This is exactly my question. I am currently on a legacy subscription, from the ‘Day One Plus’ era.
if I want to keep the AI features after the trial period, this will cost me £69.99 p.a.
This is a hike of 138%. Sadly much too much for a pensioner.
Can Day One consider a legacy subscription for long-term subscribers on previous legacy schemes?

@nrp2zfmt8h Thanks for your feedback. We don’t currently have any plans for a discounted Gold subscription.
Plus users have always kept the features they originally paid for, and if those features still suit their needs, that’s great. We have not taken away anything from that tier as we’ve continued to develop new features.
People subscribing to Day One is what allows us to continue to develop and improve the app. Without continued support, we cannot continue to develop.

I’m in the same boat, user since first version. I have paid for years, to support developing the app. Accepted the forced sync with DayOne server.
So there should be the point, where DayOne should honor this. BTW, labs has always been a premium feature, and is not included in new Silver.

Thanks for the questions regarding the gold plan and discounts. We will continue to consider this, but the current price for gold ($75) is discounted from where Gold will likely be priced in the future as the AI features mature.
-
So.
Not only is it unlikely that long-term subscribers will be recognised in the form of a discount, but it reads as though we need to pay up now, because it’s going to get even more expensive in future.

@paulmayne — I wanted to pop back in here and thank you for all of the hard work, and time you and your team have poured into Day One. If I’m cranky about business stuff, it does not mean I do not appreciate what the team has done.

demilo – I agree with you. I too have paid subscriptions from the early days, and felt this was reasonable to support the app development. Without the early subscribers the app would have disappeared years ago. I think the Day One team have created a very special product, which plays an important role in the life of many people.
What is upsetting is that with the subscription restructuring which accompanies the arrival of AI, the long-term loyalty of early adopters is being swept aside.
