Please give add an option to disable Tap-to-Edit
It will help to avoid accidental modification of content.

Hi there, thanks for posting this suggestion! We’d like to understand the issue better so we can look into it properly.
Could you share a bit more about what’s happening? For example:
- Are you accidentally entering edit mode when scrolling through an entry, or when tapping to open/read it?
- How often does this happen?
- Are you using Day One on Android? (Just want to confirm which platform you’re experiencing this on.)
Any extra detail will help us pass this along to the team with the right context. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback!

I agree with @theogabriel2. @staff-donnie, you hit the nail on the head. I often refer to entries (e.g., long inspirational passages, or reference texts). While scrolling through the passage, a stray or lazy tap on the screen activates edit mode. The keyboard obscures much of what I want to read. Clicking “Done” closes the entry. This happens frequently. The tap-to-edit feature, in this use case, spoils the flow, especially if I am reading a long prayer. (I am using Day One on an iPhone.)
theogabriel2 suggested having an option to disable tap-to-edit. That would have global effect. Another alternative, which I would prefer, is to make an additional entry-level option to disable / enable editing. It could be a toggle item in the list of actions that pop-up after clicking the three dots in the upper-right corner of an entry. Or, make both options, global and entry-level, available in an upcoming release.

Thanks @listsdayone – I’ll pass on both of these as feature requests, but to help in the meantime, if you accidentally open the keyboard, instead of tapping “Done” (which closes the entry, as you mentioned), there is a small down arrow at the top left of the keyboard, which just closes the keyboard without closing the entry. Hopefully that helps to minimize the disruption when you are reading entries.
