Select/Highlighting + deleting doesn’t remove the photos/images

  Whenever I highlight a section of text that includes images, and then I press the delete/backspace key, only the text gets deleted and all the images are left behind. Then I have to delete each image manually.

  The same thing happens when I cut some text that contains images. The image is left behind, but surprisingly, when I paste what’s in my clipboard, the image comes with it, so now I have 2 copies of the image.

  Is there a special trick to this, maybe a key combo? (I’m using the Mac desktop version)
