Lock single entry

Now that Day One has been Sherlocked it’s time to think about consumer requests. I gather from your AI response that others have asked for what is no doubt the biggest advantage of a digital journal: the ability to lock individual entries (NOT the whole journal; that’s basic). I would add that marketing needs to include those of us not moved by New Age journal frou-frou. Yes, that’s a market and take advantage of it. But there are also sober advantages to the journal as aide memoire, diary of daily events, a record of regime practices etc.
But most important is the ability to lock individual entries! I look forward to this, even if it’s only in Premium

Hey! Totally agree — locking individual entries is a game changer, not just the whole journal. I’ve been using Day One for years and the lack of per-entry privacy is exactly why I’m looking elsewhere now. It’s interesting how they missed that core need while focusing on the aesthetic crowd. But yeah, here’s hoping whatever replaces it actually listens to the practical users, not just the journal-frou-frou market.

To clarify how locking currently works in Day One: the passcode and biometric lock protect the whole app, not specific journals or entries. There is currently no way to lock or encrypt just a single entry.
The closest related option today is Conceal Content, which hides entry preview text in the List view until you open the entry. It is not a password lock, but it does add a layer of privacy if that helps in the meantime:
