Journals in sidebar on Mac

Is there a limit on the number of journals in the sidebar on Mac? I can see 15 but others are missing.

I have 22 journals and all are showing in the journals panel (annual journals from 2009 to 2028 & three test journals), but…
- I’m on the macOS version.
- I don’t have the 7/19 update installed (yet).
- I don’t synch to Day One servers or across devices.
Might not be universal (all Day One users). Yours would be the first report. Might be related to the 7/19 update.
If you consider the journals that are not visible, what do they have in common. All newer journals or all older journals? Do you use Day One on mobile device(s)? If so, do those journals appear there?
Look in the Apple App Store to see the last Day One update you installed and the date you installed it. Does that correlate with the date you stopped seeing those journals?
Also, you might log in to DayOne.me to see what shows up there. Do you see the missing journals there?
The DayOne.me portal shows the Day One data that has been synchronized from your device(s) to the Day One servers. It’s a useful tool for helping to triage and diagnose issues where data appears to be missing on one or all devices. However, if you don’t synchronize at all, then you probably won’t see anything.

Thanks for the reply @frowningsteve – I do sync across devices and I usually apply the latest updates, on Mac I’m on 2026.15 (1771). I’m on the Android beta programme. All looks fine on DayOne.me. There’s nothing I can see in common for the journals not showing in the sidebar on Mac. The ordering is fine on Android and at Dayone.me. The only odd thing I remember is that I had to reorder the journals recently as they had become knocked out of order, I assumed by an update, can’t recall whether that was on Android or Mac.

Mmm. Sorry I can’t help and actually solve the problem you’re having. It looks to be some problem internal to Day One. You’ll need the help of one of the staffers that monitor this discussion group. At least I gave you a few things to look at and to use then describing the problem to a support person.

Yes…I have an earlier version on my Mac Mini and it does not suffer from this, nor the issue with reordering journals in settings

What you’re seeing, some journals missing from the sidebar on Mac while everything is intact and syncing fine on your other devices, matches an issue we’re aware of that showed up after a recent Mac update. It’s a display issue in the sidebar, not a loss of your entries.
Our engineering team is actively working on a fix for this. I don’t have a release date to share yet, but I wanted to let you know it’s on their radar.
