Feature Request: Adjustable Top Margin in Editor
Dear Day One Team,
I’m writing to suggest a small but useful improvement to the Mac editor: please add an option to adjust the top margin (padding) of the text area.
Currently, the text starts very close to the top of the window, which can feel visually cramped. Allowing users to set a custom top margin (e.g., via a slider in Preferences) would greatly improve visual comfort and make long writing sessions more pleasant.
This minor layout tweak would make the editor feel more balanced and inviting.
Thank you for considering it.
Best regards,
notelinfeng

Hi @notelinfeng
Thanks for your feedback on this. Just to clarify, are you referring to the entry editor in the main app window, or when viewing an entry in a separate window, or both?
Thanks!

I am also interested in this. For me, with no padding at the top of the entry (both in the main app window and in a separate window), it feels disjointed. Even this entry, here in this forum, has a comfortable padding all around it, which is what we’re all accustomed to. Seems that this would be a reality easy fix, right?

@diamondgirlsails Thank you. Our designers already have this on their radar, so I’ve added the feedback from this thread to our internal tracker so we can look into making some improvements here.

Thanks. Yeah, the Apple Journal app is looking pretty good right now, and it’s free, so…just saying.

Hello @diamondgirlsails,
This should be resolved in version 2026.8.
Please update to that version, which was released today, and let us know if you’re still experiencing any issues with this.
