Does an Apple Legacy Contact have access to DayOne journals?
-
I prefer to keep my writings private and they can just cease to exist when I pass (hopefully not soon!), and I would rather my legacy contact not have access.

Thanks for reaching out! Great question.
An Apple Legacy Contact would not have access to your Day One journals. Day One stores your journal data on our own servers, separate from iCloud. Apple’s Legacy Contact feature only provides access to data stored in your iCloud account (like Photos, Messages, Notes, etc.), so your Day One journals wouldn’t be included.
If you’d like an extra layer of privacy, you can also enable end-to-end encryption on your journals in Day One’s settings. This encrypts your entries with a key stored locally on your device.
Your writings are yours, and they’ll stay private.
