Day One stuck on loading when launching
-
Ever since I updated to iOS 26 (I’m currently on the most updated iOS), Day One gets stuck on loading when I launch it and refuses to open even after closing the app completely. The only way it works is if I restart my phone, but after launching the app a few times it goes back to being stuck on loading.

Hello @dianaquino,
Can you confirm what version of Day One you’re currently using?
If you can’t do this by opening the app, you can find this in the App Store by going directly to the Day One App Store page.

Thank you for confirming.
Could we have you try updating to the latest 2026.5.1 which was just released?
Again, you can use the link below to be taken directly to that update.

Once updated, please let us know if you’re still running into the same issue.

Hello Staff-Reid,
I’m currently experiencing a similar issue with opening Day One. When I tap the app on my phone, it doesn’t launch. I don’t have an account set up, so I’m worried that deleting the app might cause me to lose my existing entries.
Is there anything you could suggest that might help resolve this issue without risking my data?
Thanks -

I’ve updated and nothing has changed. I still experience it getting stuck on launch, and the only way to make it work again is to completely shut down my phone.

Hi @dianaquino and @justusd3d6eec0f6, can you both confirm you can see all your content at dayone.me?
-
Same issue. Just started yesterday (3.27.26). I cannot update the app because I get an error message that it cannot load.

@danahrtn56 “cannot update the app” is an App Store issue, not a Day One issue. See here https://support.apple.com/en-us/102632
dayone.me is the web version of Day One where you should be able to verify if your journal data is synced/backed up.

The Premium prompt is popping up all the time now on my iPad. I just want the regular version. I loaded it on iPhone when the app was not loading on the iPad, just to make sure it was still there. I deleted it on iPhone after the problem got fixed on the iPad. But the Premium prompt keeps coming up.

I found the premium prompt kept appearing even when trying to upload just one image only, I was on data not WIFI and found that I couldnt get round it until I had stronger signal.
I was wondering if perhaps when signal is weaker the app just “assumes” I am on free tier and trying to upload too many images?
-
Hello @danahrtn56!
If you’re using the free Basic version of Day One, you can only access your account from one device. Since you signed in on your iPhone, that would be where you’d be able to access your account.
If you prefer to access it on your iPad, then you should see an option to “transfer your journal to this device” when you see that pop up on your iPad. If you tap that option, then you should be able to access your content on that device.
You can transfer content between devices once every 30 days.

@g91productiveprogram460 Are you currently subscribed to Day One Premium and seeing this pop up appear?
-
I’m not on premium yet, on the fence at the moment!
it was odd that it immediately allowed me to continue once signal was stronger on my phone. -
@g91productiveprogram460 Can you confirm this is an image being uploaded or maybe a video or any other attachment?
-
hey, I was on a new entry and simply trying to choose the photos option to then pick a photo from my library.

Hello @staff-reid – the app on my iPad won’t launch, and this is not the first time. My app is updated, the latest iOS is installed, and I tried shutting down and restarting my iPad. What might be the issue?
-
I’m having same issue. Yesterday it was stuck on updating, today I shutdown my iPad, restarted and now app shows “waiting” and will not launch. I have a premium subscription. What now?
