Day One filling my iCloud

I like to add a photo from each day to my diary entry on Day One. It’s nice looking back at an image of the day as much as reading what happened.
But with each image taking 1Mb or more of memory it’s making Day One the biggest use of memory on my iCloud Drive.
Any way of a setting which reduces the image size? I don’t want high quality images, they’re just a memory.

To answer your question directly: Day One currently stores photos you add from your Photo Library at their original full resolution. There is no setting to reduce the image size or quality before Day One saves them.
A couple of things that may help in the meantime:
If you resize or compress photos before adding them to Day One, those smaller files are what Day One will store and sync to iCloud.
Day One also has an Optimize Device Storage option (Settings > Sync and Storage), which reduces how much space Day One caches locally on your device by keeping media in the cloud instead.
