Apple Suggestions: improvements
-
I track my physical activity using my Apple Watch and the Fitness+ app on iOS.
Day One has access to Apple’s suggestions, which is great.
But if possible, I’d like to see a few improvements.
For swimming and cycling, the tile displays the duration of the activity, energy expenditure (kcal) and heart rate (average BPM).
However, for functional strength training, core exercises, yoga or Pilates, only the duration of the activity is shown. Is it possible to add the other two metrics (energy expenditure and heart rate) ?
Also, it would be brilliant to have another widget with sleep data from Apple Health. Even if it were just the duration of the night’s sleep. That alone would be great !
One final ‘detail’: in the left-hand column where the days are displayed, the stylised tiles are clearly visible on iOS, iPadOS and the web. But NOT on Mac 😏 Is there a way to fix this?
Thank you

Thanks for the detailed post!
- Workout metrics on the tiles: Day One reads the energy burned and average heart rate values straight from the suggestion Apple hands over, and it does not filter by activity type. So when a functional strength training, core, yoga or Pilates tile shows only the duration, it means those two values were not present in the suggestion Apple generated for that workout. Swimming and cycling sessions usually carry them, which is why those tiles look fuller. It is worth opening one of the strength or yoga sessions in the Fitness app to check whether the calorie and heart rate figures were recorded there in the first place. If they are in Fitness but still missing from the suggestion, that gap sits on Apple’s side, and a report through the Feedback Assistant app is the most direct way to raise it.
- Sleep data: Day One does not read anything from Apple Health today. The only Health connection runs the other way, writing your journaling time to Health as Mindful Minutes. A sleep widget is not something the app can do at the moment, so I have logged your request with the team.
- The tiles on Mac: the styled tiles you see on iPhone, iPad and the web came out of a visual refresh that has not been carried across to Day One for Mac. On Mac the same content is still there, shown as a plainer row with the title and the metrics as text rather than as a styled tile, so nothing is lost from the entry and it syncs normally. I have passed that one along too.

Thanks for the detailed reply
As the information is available for exercises other than cycling and swimming in the Fitness app, I’ve sent a request to Apple via Feedback. We’ll have to wait and see.
Please pass on the requests mentioned in points 2 and 3
