AI Integration?

Hi, I would love to be able to plug an AI LLM, be it Claude, ChatGPT or Grok into my DayOne and have some deep meaningful chats with the AI, where the AI knows a lot more about me than what I can convey by prompts. Any roadmap to this?

Well, you can do this yourself quite easily. Install AnythingLLM, export your “journal” in json format, import it into a workspace in AnythingLLM, let it create a vector database and the, start interacting with it. Very interesting to see trends and whatnot over so many years. Be best if you have LOTS of entries so that there is a lot to work with of course.
Interesting analysis of life by doing this. I have to say. I doubt I would ever sit down and read through all those entries one at a time so, what a great non linear way to interact with your life. -
Good news: Day One already has a feature that gets at this called Daily Chat — worth knowing about if you haven’t come across it yet.

You can set up a bio to give the AI a head start, save chats as journal entries, and pick up where you left off across sessions.

I have the opposite complaint. I cannot stand AI! I actually have moral objections to it, ESPECIALLY as a chat bot for therapy. Even the inventor of Eliza, the first AI chatbot in the 1960s had deep reservations about the harm it causes people’s mental health. It can be addictive to the point of causing people to withdraw from human companionship.
I’m not asking to remove it from your app. But I am imploring you to let me turn it the F### off! I don’t even want to see it on my screen.Respectfully,

@walueg Thanks for the different perspectives in this thread.
For the request to turn AI off entirely: Day One’s AI features, including Daily Chat and the other Labs AI tools, are opt-in and not on by default. The first time you tap into an AI feature you’re shown a privacy notice you have to agree to before anything happens. You can turn all AI features off completely at any time in Settings > AI Features. That switches off Daily Chat and the rest of the AI tools app-wide, and your entries stop being processed by them. If you’ve never opted in, AI features are already off on your account.
