I’m starting to explore what the AI features might do to help with my journalling. But I was massively disappointed with the suggested AI generated images. And also rather angry!
The pictures are all of males, and white males at that.
This no doubt reflects the demographics of the AI coding people, but perhaps someone could tell them that approx 50% of the population is female, and there are differing ethnicities and body shapes.

Suggested images should offer options and variety. Otherwise they are no use at all – they just reveal the prejudices and biases built in to the software.

  • @nrp2zfmt8h thank you for the feedback. I understand how frustrating it is not to have representation in the images – I have the same issue. This is something our product team is taking seriously and we’ll be making future improvements.

good to read that this issue has been noted 👍🏼

but I hope you fix it with the next 14 days! I am on the trial version of Day One Gold, and I won’t pay the vastly increased subscription price if the discrimination in these images is still there.

I tried a test post, where I said “ I had coffee today with my dear friend Mary. We had a really good chat “ . So, two people. The suggested images were of a man and a woman. So I added that Mary, like me, is a 65 year old woman. OK now the images were of two women, but so wrinkled and decrepit-looking! It was utterly depressing! Am I hoping for too much?
