Workaround for Crash on Opening

For a long time now, Day One would crash on me the first time I opened it. But just today when I’ve removed the password, it opens up nicely every time without crashing.
It’s so nice to open flawlessly now that I’m going to keep the password off. -

We’re currently looking into crash issues on Day One Mac, which I assumed what you’re using here. (If not, please do tell us.)
Hopefully, we’ll be able to resolve it soon.

I think that it has something to do with my Apple Watch, which is always prompting me to unlock it, but I can also use my finger print ID to unlock it and I think it’s just getting more than one message at the same time. But that’s just a guess.

@garryburgess Thanks for the additional info. Does this mean you experience this crash on a Day One iOS app? And not Day One Mac app?

No, I have never experienced it crashing on my iOS app to my knowledge. When I use it on iOS, I use it twice a day to dictate entries and nothing else, and I clean up the transcription later. I almost exclusively use it on my Mac OS, and it has consistently crashed until I turned off the password security. Although at one time I did have FaceID on my phone, and I removed that just because I make entries in very dark situations where Face ID might fail.

@garryburgess Thanks for your patience while we investigated an issue causing the Day One macOS app to crash when switching between windows.
Our developers have identified and fixed the issue, and the fix will be available in the
2025.18.1update.Please keep an eye out for that update in the App Store, and let us know if you still have any trouble after updating.
