Words autocorrect to a misspelt version of the word with repeated letters or num

My current issue with the Day One app (on Android) is that, when I’m typing, some words would autocorrect into misspelt versions of themselves. The word would repeat a section of itself and no matter how many times I delete the word and try retyping it the same thing would reoccur, for example …

    I can’t waiwawaiwall to

I was trying to type, “I can’t wait to” . I tried deleting the app and redownloading, I tried changing my autocorrect word settings, but still I have the same problem.

The correction of words in the app is handled by your phone’s keyboard app. I recommend opening up Day One, opening a new entry, then when your keyboard pops up look for the gear icon in the keyboard for the settings. Then you should see a section on “Text Correction”

I made a video of the process here for you:

I’ve also noticed this issue. I’ve switched back to Day One on Android after a few years but this “bug” is really frustrating me. I don’t think it has anything to do with my tablets keyboard app. I have more or less narrowed it down to the fact that if you return to edit a misspelled word it automatically adds the corrected word to the end of the misspelled word. (ie: “Thin” becomes “ThinThink” when you add the missing “k” and “mayb” becomes “maybmaybe” when you add the missing “e”). An easy thing to adjust but a bit frustrating nevertheless…
