  I’m really impressed with what the Day One team has accomplished with this app.  The word counts for each entry, the timestamp, and weather updates are all great features.  The calendar view is fantastic, and the easy way it handles images and audio is a huge plus.

  However, I would find it incredibly motivating to have a total word count in addition to the entry count. I’m currently at 720,820 words in another app, but I’m sure I have much more in Day One.  This would be a significant motivator for me.

  One downside was that I couldn’t include two videos, one of my parents’ funerals, in the obituaries journal because they were both over the 5-minute limit. I understand why a cutoff was necessary, but it was disappointing.

  I would love it if Day One had access to the video camera on Mac or iPhone. This would allow me to create in-app videos. Imagine if any of your staff were involved in genealogy or ancestry research. They would be thrilled to be able to press a button and see a video of an ancestor talking about their life.  Many people don’t leave much in their journals, and their entire personal record is often lost.

  I would love it if Day One had access to the video camera on Mac or iPhone. This would allow me to create in-app videos.

  There is currently no video camera in-app option for Mac (and I have added your vote to the feature request), however, iPhone does have an in-app camera feature. If you tap the More… button when creating a new entry, you can tap the Camera option to take a photo with the in-app camera. The Capture Video option will allow you to record a video with the in-app camera and attach it to the entry. Please note that if you use the in-app camera to capture a photo or video, you’ll want to enable the In-App Camera option at Settings > Advanced if you want the app to save a copy of the photo to your device’s photo gallery.

  Regarding the word count request and the video size limit request, I have also added your vote to both of the feature requests. Hopefully, this can be added in a future app improvement, but for now, there is no specific timeline on when this might happen.
