Is there anyway to see the total Word Count of one Journal? Thanks

Hello there,

There currently is not a way to view the word count of an entire journal. I’d be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf.

Please do. It’s very common that people want to see the total # of words they’ve written, along with the total word count per journal.

I found this page searching for this feature! So please consider this another vote! I went to find a total word count for all my DayOne journals (much like I have my tally of audio, video, pictures, and tags) and was so surprised not to find it! Thank you and LOVE the app!!!

➕1️⃣ please. It should not be a secret how many words I have written over the years. From other journal apps, I know it’s over 650,000 , but I should not have to export into another app to get that total 🤦‍♂️

I came here by a google search and vote for a information field “word count” PER ENTRY.

Ich schreibe viele Tagebuch Einträge, davon einige mit einer kurzen Notiz und wiederum andere mit einem längeren Text. Ich behelfe mich derzeit damit, dass diejenigen mit einem längeren Text von mir ein entsprechendes Schlagwort erhalten. Das hat aber den Nachteil, dass ich daran denken muss, das Schlagwort manuell zu setzen (was ich das Öfteren vergesse).

Besser wäre ein automatisch berechnetes “Word Count”-Feld und natürlich eine Möglichkeit, eben dieses Feld zu filtern. Ich brauche öfters die Tagebuch Einträge mit längerem Text, das könnte ich damit automatisieren. In den Einstellungen wäre zudem eine
- “Don’t Count these words” und
- “Don’t Count after these Caption”-Liste hilfreich, da meine Einträge am Ende selbst gestaltete Metadaten enthalten (created_at, source_doc, source_script, …).
