Windows security
-
Hi,
if I go to the dayone webapp in my windows browser there is no extra security what so ever. No password is asked. You just go straight into the journals. Is this correct? Have I fogotten something?
Thanks for helping me out. -
You haven’t forgotten or overlooked anything. This is just one of many basic functions that are not yet implemented in the Windows app.
The staff have responded saying that the developers plan on bringing feature parity to the Windows app, but they can’t set a definite timeline.
I would think that having your journal password protected – which is not the case with the Windows app – would take priority over any other plans. Hopefully that’s the case and we’ll get at least this basic feature on Windows soon.
By the way, I just switched from another app to Day One when it became available on Windows. Love the app, but the more I use it the more I notice what is still missing.

Thank you for our answer.
It should indeed be the top priority. It is the very fundation that journaling relies on. -
We do plan to bring this feature to the Windows and web app in the future, but as @termoe6a3ea39505 mentioned, we don’t currently have a timeline for when that can be expected.
In the meantime, you could manually log out of the Day One app each time you’re finished using it and/or use the web/Windows app with a user account on your computer that is password protected.

It’s a pleasure! We’ve also logged this feedback, so if others are also interested in such a feature, please be sure to comment with +1 below.
