Unable to permanently delete any entries

  I’m using MacOS, and the trash can icon, and the permanently delete option don’t work. You can click them and nothing happens. I can restore the entry from the trash, but I can’t delete it permanently. It’s pretty frustrating and I am hoping there is a fix for this please?

  I have a similar issue. I can add to trash however cannot delete trash, I can restore trash back to the journal.

  I have same issue.

  The only way to delete the trash is using the iPhone app

  Thank you all for reporting this issue with deleting entries from the trash on macOS.

  I wanted to let you know that Day One Mac version 2025.8 started a phased release yesterday. This version includes a fix for the problem where the trash can couldn’t be emptied as expected.

  Please keep an eye on the App Store for the update to Day One on your Mac. Once you’ve installed version 2025.8, you should be able to permanently delete entries from the trash without any problems.

  The new release did fix the issue preventing permanently deleting entries from the trash. But it appears to have introduced a new issue preventing me from deleting any entries in any of my journals.

  Same bug with the desktop app… cannot delete entries. Works only with the mobile app.
