Syncing Error / No Automatic Export to Google Drive

    First of all, I love the Day One app. I’ve been using it for several years now and it really helps me.

    About my account: I joined back when Day One was a one-time-purchase on iOS. That’s why I have the Super account status now and log in via my Apple ID (which might be the problem?). I have switched to my android phone by now and there’s encryption enabled on both platforms.

    Day One Sync has been causing errors for several weeks now but I’ve waited hoping an update would fix it. Now even the automatic Google Drive export doesn’t work anymore (ever since the 20th March). I am getting anxious my precious journals might get lost. I’ve tried starting a manual export but since I’ve been using different devices, not all the pictures are on my phone. Downloading them from the server didn’t succeed, I got an error. There seems to be a connection problem of some sorts. I did the “convert your apple login into a real login” thing when the pop-up was there. I got the pop-up several times but the app review people told me it should already have successfully connected after the first time.

    Nevertheless, now I don’t know how to establish a connection if my syncs keep failing. I don’t dare log out of the app because I have all these new entries on my phone that are not saved on the web. (Please excuse if my post looks a bit weird, it was written on the phone.)     Day One Sync has been causing errors for several weeks now but I’ve waited hoping an update would fix it. 

    Without sharing personal information with us here, what is the error message you see in Day One?

    Without sharing the key with us, is the encryption key present on any device in the following places?

    • iOS: Day One > Settings > Sync > Encryption Key
    • Mac: Day One > Settings > Sync > Advanced > View Encryption Key
    • Android: Day One > Settings > Sync > Encryption Key
    • Web: Day One > Settings > Account > Encryption Key

    It sounds like the key may be missing in the app settings on Android. Once entered, the errors should be resolved.

    Thank you for the reply!
    The error is the fact that it won’t stop syncing and when I tap it it’ll just say it’s not done yet. I’ve tried leaving the screen on for about 15 minutes and it will eventually stop moving but having a failed synchronisation. Then it’ll start trying again.
    The encryption key is activated on my phone and it’s also being saved via Google Drive and iCloud (since I’ve used my iPad before).
    I don’t think I can alter the key in any way since it’s already entered. There’s also a QR code.

    Thank you, I’ve sent the logs from both my devices!
    Happily, the new entries also loaded up on the iPad even though I got the “Sync Failure” message on my Android. So it seems to be a display issue of some sorts?
    What’s weird too is that the automatic Google Drive upload doesn’t work anymore ever since the 19th March.
