Streak count incorrect on Web vs Android App
-
Hi all,
I’ve searched on this forum to see if others are experiencing the same thing, and I cannot find anything.
My issue:
- I have been using Day One (free) for just under 4 months – in fact 119 days!
- The streak count on my Android App is correct 119 days).
- The streak count on the Web (where I do most of my entries) says 92 days.
- My Web version is kept up to date (as I write: version 2025.13.3).
- My Android version is also kept up to date (as I write: version 2025.13).
- I’ve checked and the sync between my Android phone and what it shows on the Web does not have any errors.
- When I make an entry on my phone (which is rare), I can see it correctly on the Web version. When I make an entry on the web (which is where I make of my entries), it shows up correctly on my Android phone.
- I’ve gone through entries (using the Web) and there is at least one entry everyday from the day I started.
This issue has been there for quite a while. The streak count encourages me to make an entry everyday, but the discrepancy between the actual number of days and the streak (on the Web version) has finally frustrated me enough to post on this forum.
Any ideas how I can resolve the streak issue?
Thank you in advance.
Ben

Hi @cadetvvoo,
This is really odd! Would you check few things for us:
- Check the user ID and ensure they match on the Android and web app: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/settings/day-one-user-id
- Check for any sync errors:
- On the web app, check for errors at Settings > Advanced. Click the “View Sync Details” button. https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-on-the-web/day-one-web-troubleshooting/#h-data-mismatch-between-devices
- On the Android app, go through the sync troubleshooting guide: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/troubleshooting/solving-sync-troubles/
If you’re not seeing any errors and have gone through all of the troubleshooting stpes above, let us know.

Hi, I have gone through each of your troubleshooting steps.
The user ID is the same.
The web app shows no errors:

There is an encryption key

Here are screenshots of the app streak count and the web app streak count (my mobile is set to French)

As you can see, the entries are the same. There is 9 media. There are 119 days, but the Android app shows the streak “Série actuelle” as 119, but the webapp as 92 streak.
I’ve also checked not only the User ID but also the Journal ID. Both are identical. The only difference is the streak on the Web App.
Thanks

Hi there, @cadetvvoo! Thank you for the additional information. To help us troubleshoot this further, could you send the diagnostics from your mobile device?
In the app, go to Settings > Support > Select “Report a Bug” > Select “Send in Diagnostics”, be sure to have the option for “Include device logs” toggled on.
In the message please add Attn: Ticket No.9944450 or a link to this forum thread. -
Attn: Ticket No.9944450
Hi, it’s been quite a few months, the situation is still the same. Right now, it shows me that the # of days is 354. On my app it says a series of 354, but my web shows 117. I wonder if this has been resolved.
Again, not the highest of priorities, but I wonder if others have experienced the same thing.
Thanks

I have a couple not-so-random questions. These questions apply to what you see on the web, where you see a lower streak count.
- Do you have multiple journals?
- If you do and you view each of the journals in the Calendar view, do you see any days that are colored other than your assigned journal color?
Say, for example, you set the color of a journal to green and you see one or more scattered journal entries that are gray.
I had this happen to me and it took me a long time to get to the bottom of the problem. In my case, I had a number of journal entries that had the correct date for a given journal (for me, one journal per year) but were not assigned to the journal for that year. In those instances, the day in Calendar view was gray.
I solved this very specific problem by editing all the journal entries on days that showed as gray and manually setting the journal to that year’s journal.
I’m not positive, but I believe the problem was caused by creating a new journal entry while unintentionally having “All Entries” selected in the journals pane. The date of each of the problem caused the entries to appear chronologically in a year-based journal without the entries actually being assigned to that journal. That in turn interrupted the sequential count of contiguous journal entries across all of my journals (19 year-based journals, most with 1,000+ entries, and 27K total entries at that time).

Thanks for the very prompt response. The answer to your question is no. I have one journal. I’ve never changed anything. I searched for a solution, found Day One, tried it on my Android device and saw there is a web interface, so I use both. (I actually use the web interface much more often).
I can’t remember ever changing any parameters.

Hi @cadetvvoo
I don’t think we ever received your app diagnostics.
Would you mind sending the diagnostics from your Day One Android app? Please put “Attn: Ticket #10877596” in the subject line.
https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-diagnostics/
You may receive an automated reply to the diagnostics email, which you can disregard. Just reply here to let us know once those are sent. Thanks!

Happy to send, but just to confirm, the issue is with the web interface, not the app itself. The app works perfectly. I’m sending shortly.

Thank you so much for all of the information, @cadetvvoo
We’ve filed a report for this to be investigated. If we have any updates or questions, we’ll reach out!

Hi @cadetvvoo
Our team looked into this, and it looks like you might be using an old version of our web app.
Our web app is now using 2026.4.1, so please check on the bottom right of the web app for a prompt to upgrade.
Once done, please let us know if the same issue persists or not.

@cadetvvoo Just following up to let you know that we identified the issue with Web streak mismatch. We have implemented a fix for this.
To see the update, you may need to refresh your web browser. But remember to sync any unsynced entries first to avoid losing them during the refresh.
If you notice any more mismatches, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Thank you for your report!

Thank you for taking the time to fix this. It is working now. I really appreciate WordPress and Day One for looking into this. I will close this ticket.
