Source of Weather Data

Recently, I noticed that the temperature recorded for my location was off by about 7°. I’ve been trying to find out what source the Day One app uses to show the current weather conditions when I initiate a new entry. I always assumed it was national weather service data, but my own outdoor thermometer, and two other online sources showed a temperatures that were within a degree of my thermometer.
If anyone knows and can share that information with me, I would be grateful. I looked into all the settings and couldn’t find anything that would make a difference, on my iMac or my iPhone. I sent an email to Day One. They sent me an automated reply, since I am not a premium subscriber. They said I could get help as a premium subscriber, but short of that, perhaps someone on the forum could help. That was a little bit annoying because I paid for the app in the first place, and it seemed like a simple question to answer. I have Day One Plus. I don’t need the premium service.

We are currently using WeatherKit from Apple for our weather data. This API from Apple is using many of the same features and input from Dark Sky which we previously used before Apple incorporated that into their own Weather app and API.

Hi, I have the same issue. I keep getting ‘sun’ icons in the middle of the night — or like right now, its pouring rain in Seattle, but Im getting a ‘sunny and partly cloudy’ weather status.
I feel like weather was more accurate a few years ago…and there used to be TWO weather sources to choose from. Not sure what’s up. Just seems odd to journal about a rainy day and the icon and weather says its SUNNY !
