Shortcuts on iOS broken

Since the last update all my Shortcuts on iOS have broken. I get 2 different error messages:
- Couldn’t communicate with a helper application.
- The action “Create Entry” could not run because the “Day One” app quit unexpectedly
Sometimes one, sometimes the other with no change in my shortcut running. I use the Create Entry action.

Oh, and of course I tried reinstalling the app and hard restarting the phone. Didn’t help.
Same shortcuts do run on the Mac just fine and were running on the iPhone for the past 4 years or so every day.

Could you share with us a bit more information about your setup?
- Can you confirm you’re running Day One version 2025.1, which is the most recent update?
- What version of iOS are you using?
With that, we can do some investigation on our end to try and recreate the issue.

I am also having the same issue. I am running 2025.1, iOS 18.2.1. My shortcuts seemed to be working just fine until the last update.

I just tried the same shortcut on a different device, that has not been updated to the latest version of DayOne, and the shortcut worked fine.

@cotaylork, thank you for sharing those details with us! Are you able to share an iOS shortcut with us where this problem occurs consistently? I’d be happy to forward that along to our developers as a bug report.
@miharek, If you’re still experiencing this issue, can you confirm what version of Day One and iOS you’re using? And if you’re also able to reproduce this error consistently, are you able to share a shortcut with us where it occurs?

i already wrote to your support and attached a ton of crash logs. They assured me the devs are already aware 🤷♂️

Just dropped a line to support. For me it still doesn‘t work. Particularly when trying to make NEW shortcuts. Have tried some of the shortcuts I made earlier. But didn’t have the time to thoroughly check all of them.
One problem I’m having … Trying to make a simple shortcut to append text to an already existing entry in Day One. Unfortunately it looks like Shortcuts is not able to get access to the entries in Day One. Commands like „find entry“, „open entry“, etc. do not give any useful result at all.
Having latest versions installed for all components that may play a role here (Day One, Shortcuts, iOS). Have already tried recommendations that I found on the web (restarting systems, discontinue iCloud sync for Shortcuts, etc.) but nothing seems to help. Having the exact same problems on my iPhone as well as on my iPad.
Any idea what could be wrong?

@drgerdesa925a56375 To help us look into this more closely, could you please share an example of an iOS Shortcut where this problem occurs consistently? That will let us test the exact setup and identify what might be going wrong.

Thanks, Frank, for taking care. I’ve found the error in the meantime, and shortcuts are working as usual again. So issue is resolved for now. Again, thanks for your help and your quick response!
