Shared Journals – Invite link not appearing
-
I hope this is an easy one. After I’ve created a new shared journal, I click on the “Add Members” button under the journal name. It takes me to the journal Sharing screen where I see myself as the owner and the “Add Members” shows in the “Members” section below. How do I get the invite link to show? When I click on the Add Members button nothing happens. Everything else works fine. Thanks for any help I can get on this. I love using Day One and looking forward to using this new feature! Steve.

I’m having the same problem. Premium subscriber running the latest OS on all my devices and running the most recent update of the app, but still no joy. I’ve also had no response to any of my support request emails.

Sharing should be working on your new Journal, but we have heard some reports of issues on iOS Can you share a screen recording of what’s happening when you give that button a try? https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/take-a-screen-recording-iph52f6e1987/ios It will also help if you can reach out to us directly in the app from Settings> Support the next time it happens so we can see your logs.
While we work with you on that, I recommend you try adding new members to your Shared Journal in our web app: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-on-the-web/getting-started-on-the-web/ -
I’ve just submitted a support request directly via the app and attached a screen recording as recommended. Thanks for your support! Steve

Same thing, I also submitted a support request and have heard nothing. Interestingly, I got a support survey asking how my support experience was. Unfortunately there wasn’t an option for “non-existent”.

I can see that your information was added to our open investigation. Thanks for your patience while our engineers review the open issue.

90% fixed
The latest update fixed 90% of the issue! I can now get the invite link. I sent the link to my wife who I want to share a journal with. She was able to sent the request to join back to my day one app fine and I can see approve/decline option in my notifications. The only issue is that the “Approve” button is not working or accepting. I click on approve and the button just attempts and the reappears as if it didn’t go through. Thanks for your efforts on this!

Solved!
I was able to solve the final issue I was experiencing with approving a request to join my shared journals.
The issue was that I could not approve a request to join my shared journal(s).
Summary:
– I have Day One on my iPhone and iPad mini using the app.
– I have Day one on my MacBook Pro using the MaOS app.
– I was not using the web version of Day One until now
– The approve button on both my iPhone and iPad did not work.
– I know that Shared Journals are not implemented yet on the MacOS app yet (I hope soon)
– I logged into the Web version of Day One, and saw that I was being asked to authenticate the Shared Journals with my encryption key to be able to view them. I did so, the journals appeared as well as the notifications to approve the requests to join my shared journals. This worked! I was able to approve on the web version and now the sharing is working great on my iPhone, iPad and web version of Day One.
Please note that you can see your encryption key in your IOS app in Settings/Sync/View Encryption Key.

I’m so glad you were able to get this resolved! Thank you for sharing such a detailed report on how you worked through it for others who may have the same troubles.
