Setting to push day boundary to 4am to keep streaks on late-night entries
-
So I often find myself writing my diary before going to bed, around midnight. This also means that if I write just before midnight and one day, and just after midnight the next, I lose my streak. Even though, in my mind, I wrote every day. Even though, in my mind, I wrote every day.
It would be great to have a setting that pushes the day break used to calculate streaks back a bit further into the night. It would be great to have a setting that pushes the daybreak used to calculate streaks back a bit further into the night. Something like 4 AM. If this new settings is activated, any entry done between midnight and 4 AM would be counted towards the previous day.
This request is partially inspired by a similar feature Sleep++, a SLEEP tracking app by David Smith/underscore. He implemented something similar to calculate which day a night should belong to. See the last entry of his FAQ page: https://sleepplusplus.app/faq

Do you manually update the date or time of the entries as a workaround? If not, that may help you keep the streak you want. https://dayoneapp.com/guides/tips-and-tutorials/change-the-date-time-of-an-entry/

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing so far. It is a workaround that works, but it’s annoying and forces me to add wrong data to an entry, which I’d rather use the intended way.

@40680829c06dd23 I can confirm that we have a feature request opened to improve how this works. I have added your feedback to it
