Set tags (and other metadata) for templates
-
It would be nice to be able to attach predefined tags to custom templates. Furthermore, being able to set a template as “All day” by default would also be useful. Not sure if a default location could also be useful (not for me but maybe for someone people).

I can’t speak to the second issue you raise (default to “All Day”). I agree that a template should have a property to toggle between “All Day” and a date. And that this state should propagate to new journal entries instantiated from that template.
As far as attaching tags to templates, what specific problem are you having that prevents this? When you create a new template (or edit an existing one), there is a field for attaching one or more predefined tags.
I have numerous templates and all of them have tags attached. I’ve been following this model for cookie cutter journal entries for years. It has worked without any issues.

Thank you for your reply. I was using the web interface and I could not find the option to add tags to templates there, but I just saw it is there in the Android app. Being able to use the app from my phone and my PC is great, but it is a shame that there are several things that I only seem to be able to do in one or the other (e.g. some kinds of text edits and changing location metadata is only on Android, whereas setting an entry time to “all day” is only on web UI).

Ah! All is clear now. The interfacer you were using is the key to your original question.
I use only the macOS version, and so my response was colored by that lens.
I’m happy to see that you at least have a clear understanding of the problem. It’s not a matter of learning the app, but a feature that development needs to add to one particular version of the app.
Best future. Keep journalling!

Thanks for your feedback on customizing templates! I’ve added your vote to a feature request to set a template to “All Day”. And suggested the option to add a default location too.
You mentioned that you couldn’t edit template tags in the Web app. You should be able to add tags when editing templates. Go to “All Entries” or select a journal. Click the square icon to the the left of the plus icon at the top right. Select “Manage templates”. Select “My templates” then choose a template to edit. Click the three dots (…) at the top right to view template settings. Here’s a screenshot just in case:
