Search results improvement
-
If I search for a word, I get a results box showing the search word highlighted and some of the surrounding text. If I click on the results box, I go to the Day One entry. The search result is no longer highlighted. If that Day One entry has a large amount of text, I can’t see the search result.
Take me to each hit of the search, and keep each search result highlighted. Don’t just tell me that there is a search hit somewhere in the Day one entry.

I’ll share your idea with the team for further consideration. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us :-)

I have posted with similar suggestion in the past.
My entries tend to be long and it would be nice to see WHERE in the post the searched word is found and then, like most note apps that I have used, be able to toggle forward or backward to future or past occurrences of the searched for word or words.
I really think this is an important feature for any note or journaling app to have. Please consider adding it or similar feature.
Thank youi.

I too would like to see this feature implemented as soon as possible. It’s rather an important and basic function of searches these days.

Hi @zwsqgqjcwn,
Thank you for your feedback! I have added your comment as a vote for this feature. -
I would also appreciate if this feature could be added. It would make it easier to quickly identify where in an entry the specific key word is.
An example I may use for clarification is in Microsoft Word, where if I were to search a word in the search bar, this word would be highlighted and quickly identified in my writing. -
Hi @wvsgdb6c7m,

I landed on this blog for the same reason.
In D1, I wondered if I was making a mistake when I used the keyword function in my search.
Ideally, I would like the search results to highlight the search words.
While it’s beneficial to focus on all the entries containing my search word, after 10 years of D1, that amounts to an overwhelming amount of reading just to locate my search word in each entry.
Moreover, the day that appears in the search results shows all other entries as well, leaving me clueless about which specific entry contains my search word… unless I happen to find it.

I had answered above but have recently switched back to iOS/iPad iOS Notes app for longer entries that I may want to be searchable, since even the most basic included app…….Apple Notes….allows the user to identify where searched text is found and to identify all instances of that search term within an entry and allow the user to easily and quickly progress forward or backward from a point in a document to find the HIGHLIGHTED search terms.
Apple Notes allows encryption as well if needed for more sensitive notes.
Please consider adding this feature to Day One app, since it is fairly basic and in almost every other Note taking and Journaling app I have come across. I just copied an entire long note to Apple notes from Day One…and it took me 5 minutes to do something that it took me over an HOUR to do from within Day One.

Adding my vote here as well. Very basic feature. In addition it would be nice to have AI searching capabilities so that you can describe and event roughly and have it use more intelligence to find what you’re looking for even if you miss the specific keyword needed.
