Scribble misbehaving
-
For the past couple of months my iPad app is misbehaving when using Pencil/Scribble. I have come to rely on the ability to hand write my journals and have it automatically convert to text. Occasionally, the app cannot decipher my handwriting and will guess at a word. I love that it puts a blue line underneath those words so I can go back and easily change it from the suggestions it offers above the word once I simply tap.
Unfortunately, now nearly every word is underlined in blue – my handwriting isn’t that bad!;Trying to tap one blue underlined word grabs multiple words but only offers a suggestion for replacing one of the words;
Trying to tap to start on a new line results in a chunk of the prior line getting highlighted along with several blank rows…
All just, wrong. Scribble works fine in other apps.
I have restarted iPad, uninstalled and reinstalled day one app. I have turned scribble off and on. Nothing resolves.
Anything else I can try?

Hi, @jnysdcmyjj! To start, can you please share the following information with us?
- The OS and OS version on your iPad
- Your Day One app version – https://dayoneapp.com/guides/settings/locating-the-version-number-of-day-one/
If you could use a file-sharing service to share a screen recording with us that demonstrates the issue and also compares how Scribble behaves in another app for you, that would be much appreciated!

I have exactly the same problem and it’s infuriating.
The appeal of the pencil with Dayone is to journal by handwriting but all the corrections are whack to the point that it interferes terribly with the experience. -
Hi @chris8b5290ae79. Thanks for posting!

To clarify, are you using the Scribble feature (where handwriting is converted to text) or the Drawing tool? These are two separate features. Apple provides support for Scribble, while the Drawing tool is our own internal tool.
We look forward to your reply!
