Resizing and user-placement of photos

this is a long outstanding and much needed request, but the reply is the same for over a year now.
Any idea when it will really picked up and put on the Development action list ?

    thank you

  • @vandevyver I can confirm that the feedback is being logged. We can’t say for sure when it will be added by our developers, but it is something that will be considered when they are deciding on the roadmap for Day One.

We hope it is considered in the future!

I’d like to add my vote to this feature request. The lack of this feature is the single biggest reason that I have never utilized book printing. The photos I include are fine on an iPhone screen, but become overwhelming and ruin the layout in any print form. I really hope this request hasn’t been forgotten.

ANother thing that I’d love to see: the insertion of tables into an entry. That’d be great for use with templates.

I would love to print some books using Day One but it is not well suited to that. As a journal application, being able to print a nicely formatted copy of one’s journal would increase the value of this application tremendously, as you can seem from all the requests related to photographs. Can we get more information than “I’ll pass this on”? Is this something the developers are considering? If this is not possible, please let us know and we can look for other alternatives. Thanks.

  • Hello @rogersbetsy,

We don’t have additional information to give on this request at this time. If and when this becomes available in the future, we will let users know.

  • Hello @marts57 and @rogersbetsy!

We got your votes added! 😊

Agree that is a significant missing feature. Huge pictures make my journal entries look odd. I want to print it and I’m not sure if I will now.

  • Thanks for the feedback @melissajburnett – it has been added to our board :)

I am also in favor of these.

The ability to crop an image within Day One is also important. Having to switch apps (especially on a phone) in order to make a small change is frustrating.

  • Thanks for adding your vote, @demilo! I’ve made sure to record that for you.

+1 This is a MAJOR pain and friction point for using Day One. Can you tell us where this feature sits on your roadmap? Is it likely to be addressed anytime or should we be looking for a different app?

  • Hi @mikem2480 – Thanks for checking in. Photo resizing/placement isn’t currently planned, so I can’t promise a timeline. I’ll add your vote to the request so the team sees the interest, and if it becomes a higher priority we’ll be sure to announce it here, and in release notes.

Not being able to resize photo’s is my major reason for not using DayOne. I’ve tried to, believe, I really did, but this ‘flaw’ just made the user-experience pretty awful. On my 13 inch iPad I have to scroll down more that the length of one whole page for just one photo! Nothing doing!
Come on. For years now we’ve been having your replies that you’ll pass it on to the ‘developers’ … very kind, but we need not ‘a pass on’, but really something done about this in an otherwise really usefull journalist app.

This blocking issue (photo sizing and layout) is requested over and over.
Same reply, but no action, no planning, no solution.

    This is it for me.
I move on to alternatives and cancel my subscription as from now.

  • @emeiners45 We understand your frustration.

To clarify how feature requests work, we add each request for any given feature to an internal feature tracker, so we know how much demand there is for each feature.

If a feature sees significant interest from customers and our team agrees that it is in line with our values and product goals, then the idea may get added to our development roadmap.

So although we haven’t yet been able to prioritize this feature, we continue to track requests, and will add an update here if/when it gets added to our roadmap.
