Quoted Text is TOO LIGHT

I have been using DayOne for over a decade and love it. The main everyday issue I have with it is that the quoted text (>) is so light that it’s difficult to read. I use the quoted text function much much less than I would like to because I simply struggle to see the text and read it.

As a design matter, it seems to me that the text is already (1) inset with a (2) vertical line beside it (which I don’t love but is not a huge deal). So there’s no design reason, really, to add a THIRD design change by setting the text in such light text, especially since it decreases rather than increases readability.

Please please change this! Please just set the text in the normal text color. It would be such a quality of life improvement and so simple. Thank you!

  • Hello @austinkocher,

This is great feedback! I’ll pass this along to the team for future consideration. Thank you for being very detailed with what you’d like to see changed.

    Hello @austinkocher
PREMIUM member here, I have been using this for a long time too.

Every time when i need a quotation I work around this by “Quoting It Myself”
and using the Headlines or Bold to make it stand out.

This doesn’t make sense, please change this to a slightly darker grey.

    ITS ALMOST INVINCIBLE right now.

Wondering how many users just never use it and create their own workaround?
if you’re one of them let us know!

  • Hello @jetgadget, thank you for your feedback and for contributing to the conversation. I’ll send your feedback along to the team as well.

At Day One, we take feedback from users very seriously, and hearing that other users would like this design changed helps us prioritize considering a change here.

I am having the same issue with the quote text formatting. On my Mac desktop, the quote text is turquoise which is not enough contrast for me to read. I have aging eyes, and I need more contrast. Actually, anyone with low vision issues needs more contrast. When I write on the iPhone 14 Pro, the quoted text is gray, which I can read. I have been using Day One since 2010 and write daily.

It would be nice to have othe formatting options like color as well. UpNote has that feature which I like.
