Problem with overlapping text on lefthand column on iPad (landscape mode)

Since the last upgrade, when I start Day one and enter the app on my iPad, with the days and top line of each entry in the lefthand column, almost always two day’s items are overlapping and essentially displayed on top of each other so you cannot read either.

If you click on the indivudual entry, you can then read it, but it is impossible to make out the text until you try clicking on it. It seems to alway be in the middle to lower 2/3 down the column where the days or entries overlap, and seems to be a display formatting issue perhaps.

If it matters, I am using an iPad air, 2022, locked in landscape mode. I do not think I have had this problem in the past, but have noticed this only recently.

Yep, same here. On a 13-inch iPad Pro with M4, so it’s not just the iPad air model either. The layout code in this app is just buggy.

  • Hello @tachyone and @boldwater8759!

I’m not seeing this on my end. Could we have you both confirm if you’re using version 2024.15?

Can you also give us a little more detail on your set up within Day One?

Are you using the main timeline screen? Do you have an entry selected when you’re seeing this? Any further detail would be great!

I had been using 2024.15 and as of this morning, I am using version 2024.16 (just released today). The problem is seen with BOTH versions.

I am NOT using the classic timeline mode (toggle turned off)

I have an iPad air (2022) and keep it locked in landscape mode.

The problem is intermittent and because of that, I cannot be sure, but it seems to happen on EVERY opening of your app while it is still in the memory of iOS (meaning that I do NOT see after a force close of your app. (and it happens when YOUR program is the ONLY program that has been opened after all others are force closed)

and….just before posting this……I just tried it on my iPhone and the same issue is present there, in portrait mode, so it does NOT seem to be device specific, nor portrait OR landscape specific. (it currently involves the SAME two entries, and again, they are in the bottom third of the screen). (iPhone XR, locked in portrait mode). (but other entries have been involved over the past several weeks, always seemingly in the same area of the screen. (and it always seems to overlay TWO separate entries on top of each other, and does seem to go away when clicking on one of the two to read it on the right column.)

I hope some of this helps.

and just to clear up any ambiguity……..it does not matter whether your app is the only app in memory or one of many, the problem still occurs. It is NOT seen after force closing your app, whether or not other apps are still open in memory.

and in checking this on my iPhone I see SEVERAL entries on top of each other and involved and they are on the TOP half of the screen…..so perhaps the area of the screen is NOT important…..but the state of force close seems VERY reproducible.

If you have any other specific questions about my app settings….let me know.

Hi @tachyone I emailed you to get more info. Let us know if you did not receive it.

I get this a lot on my iPhone. I agree it only happens if the app is in memory. I can’t seem to post an image here but I think the descriptions above are clear. I’m on 2025.8.

  • Hi @bsgcywshzd – I’d like to get more information from you. I’ve reached out to the email associated with your forum account. Please be on the lookout for our email (including spam), and let us know if you didn’t get it.
