Premium purchase prompt preventing posting
-
I was putting in some entries from the weekend yesterday. The first one, with a picture went in fine. Tried to post another for a different day and when I try to attach a pic it immediately prompts me to upgrade to premium and not telling me why. If I close out of the prompt it takes me back to a post, but doesn’t actually add the photo.
Has the free use version changed and no longer allows pictures to be added to entries?
As an aside, I was originally a “Legacy of Love” user and converted over. Which started a new journal. I also did a reset on my phone a few months ago which then created another journal. So I don’t know if that has become the problem. All has been working fine until yesterday and I post with some regularity.

Hello @mattalvino,
When using the free Basic version of Day One, you can add one photo per entry and can use one journal. There has been no change to this. You can see exactly what the free tier offers in the article below.
Day One Pricing & Features Guide
If you are still running into this upgrade prompt, please try to force quit Day One and then add a photo to an entry again after reopening the app.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I, too, am getting the upgrade prompt pretty regularly, and I’m not even trying to add photos (or do anything else that would require an upgrade). The website says the free version of the app has “no ads” so why do I keep seeing this popup ad to upgrade? I do not need any of the premium features, so is there a way to disable the update?

@byjeffburger the “no ads” is referring to ads that you typically see in free to use apps. As an example, you may see an add for a game, or another app in a free to use app.
We do not make any money or promote ads like this when users are using the free Basic tier. That does not mean we will not promote our own app within Day One to our free users.
There is not a way to disable this. I will pass along your feedback to the team, though.
