Png file format

  I have been using png files in Day One since almost the beginning and suddenly, since May 2023, the png files are not transparent anymore; the transparent area is now flooded in pale gray every time I import a png file. Prior to May 2023, the png files that I had already imported in Day One are still displayed properly with a transparent background.

  How can I make the new ones transparent again?
