Photo importing not working on some photos (MacOS)
-

Anyone else getting this error? It’s bad enough you can’t import more than 1 photo from the app itself, but now from the Photos app in MacOS, I get this error.
I also see there “support” through this forum, and then “premium” support. Lovely. -
Hi @axlrush,
There could be a number of different causes for this error. Would you share some more information so we are on the same page?
- Would you share the exact steps you’ve taken to add and export photos that eventually led to this error? We’d like to reproduce this error on our end, so the more details you can share, the better.
- Would you share if the photos are stored on iCloud? Are are photos on your Mac?
Looking forward to your reply,

I’m having similar problems that just started a couple weeks ago. I have a paid DayOne app on a Macbook Air with MacOs Sonoma 14.5. Using the import button of the desktop version of DayOne, you can only search for a file on your computer, but I was always able to drag a photo directly from the Photos app into a DayOne entry. The mobil (iPhone) version of DayOne works differently, presenting the option of importing a photo directly from the Photos app.
But a couple weeks ago, DayOne (on laptop) began displaying an error when I tried to drag a photo from the Photos app. The first couple times I could read it (can’t remember the exact text) but then the error began flashing and closing so quickly that it’s impossible to read. If I first drag the desired photo from Photos to my desktop, I can then still import the photo. But no longer directly from the Photos app. (I keep the Photos photo files on iCloud).
Maybe this info helps? Is there a reason this has changed? My DayOne version is 2024.16 (1575). -
Hello @rw6f25fjhc. Thanks for the additional information! We have identified the issue and we are working on a fix for this. Please update to version 2024.17 when released on the Mac App Store in the next couple of weeks.
