Photo does not appear in iOS App, Appears OK in MacOS App

Created an entry with three photos, and they all appear in the MacOS app, but in the iOS app the first photo is blank – a space for it, but just grey. The thumbnail appears in the entry list, but opening the entry in the iPhone app shows a blank image. Going into Entry Info shows three photos, again the first is blank. It says “JPEG Photo” with a date and time. Trying to view the photo, PDF, etc. shows no image.

I tried deleting the photo in MacOS app and re-inserting it, but same issue. Sync is up to date, not seeing any other missing photos in other entries.

I’m glad you reached out about your missing media in your Day One app so we can investigate with you! Missing media is something we take quite seriously and want to resolve as quickly as we can.

I have a few questions to help find a resolution to this for you:

    1. If you tap Settings > Sync > Storage is Optimize Device Storage checked?

    2. Does the media restore itself if you check “Download All Media” in Settings > Sync > Storage?

    3. Have you recently moved entries from one journal to another?

    4. Have you recently changed the encryption settings for any Journal?

    5. What method was used to add the missing images? Did you share them to the app or upload them directly in an entry while editing?
