PDF Export appears to be broken
-
On MacOS. Updated to latest App Store release (2026.5).
When I try to export to PDF, it goes through the process, but produces a document with only metadata content and no entry content. Lots of blank pages with only the entry date and page number.
-
I can’t even print a single entry at this point. Something is definitely up with the export, or specifically the PDF rendering. Let me know if there are additional details I can provide to help debug.
-
Exporting the Plaintext/Markdown works. The content is all there, so the issue must be in the PDF Renderer.

I have a similar problem, and yours and mine might well be related in app functionality.
macOS (latest), Day One 2026.5.
I cannot print a journal entry to a printer. A page comes out of the printer, but none of the journal entry’s text shows. The date appears at the top of the page, small print and in a purplish color. A page number appears at the bottom, normal size and in black. The rest of the page is blank.
Interestingly, when the pricing process starts a progress bar appears that has the caption “Processing entries for Export.” (That’s why I think the problems are related.)
I suspect printing from Day One to a printer and exporting to a PDF do through (at least partly) the same process and therefore have the same problem.

Happy news! I was using Day One version 2026.5. I just installed the 2026.5.1 update (apparently released only 2 days ago). The problem appears to have been fixed.
Kudos and thanks to the development team!

Hooray! This fixed it for me too. That update wasn’t in the App Store for me earlier today, but is now.

@nathanielminto @stevekoterski Thanks for reporting this and for confirming the fix in version 2026.5.1 – that’s really helpful!
This was a known issue that we had tracked on our Known Issues: PDF Previews Appearing Blank page. We’re glad to hear it’s now resolved with the latest update.
If you run into anything else, don’t hesitate to let us know. Thanks again!
