Not Syncing, and Then Can’t Log in on Mac
-
Noticed that my iPad and iPhone were not syncing with the Mac (the primary machine I use for updating Day One). Hadn’t sync’d for a couple of weeks. Tried the web version – sure enough, not sync’d with the Mac.
Tried sync from the Mac App and said something like “Temporary Error – data not in the right format”. Decided to sign out and sign back in again. Got a second error – “Sign in Failed. The data couldn’t be read because it’s not in the right format”.
Thought about deleting the app on the Mac and restarting but now very worried about losing weeks, if not years of data.
Please advise! Thanks. Joe

Fixed – deleted DayOne, logged back in (after about an hour trying to understand that the Apple dialog is looking for the COMPUTER password not the AppleId Password, which Da Fuq). all is well

Hi @joedunn56! We’re very sorry for the delay with response on your ticket, we have had an above average amount of ticket requests at this time.
Thanks for following up and letting us know that the issue is resolved.
the Apple dialog is looking for the COMPUTER password not the AppleId Password
This can definitely be confusing. It is a limitation on Apple’s end when using Sign in with Apple. It would be helpful if we could add specific instructions on that password screen, but we are not able to.
Let us know if we can help in the future.
