New entries only opening in trash on desktop app

For some reason when I click new entry in my journal on my desktop app it puts the new entry in the trash (that’s where it starts) and if I try to open it in trash I can’t type in it. The work around is to start the new post in the menu bar. This is driving me batty. I am running MacOS 14.4 and have the apple chip.

I can see how that would make you a bit batty! I would certainly be annoyed. That’s not how the app should be working at all.
First, I recommend double-checking there isn’t a new update for your Day One app in the App Store. This will make sure this isn’t an issue we’ve already fixed in the past.
If an update doesn’t help, would you mind sending the diagnostics from your device to us and letting us know here when you’ve sent them? I’ll want to check them out to see what could be causing you such trouble.
