New Day One design March 2025
-
Using an iPad, the first impression is very unappealing. There are three columns, but each one is narrower. The visual presentations, while pleasant, take up a lot of space on the screen, making it hard to read the notes ergonomically.
When I write with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, the editor keeps freezing. I have to reopen the note to continue typing.
Access to ‘On This Day’ is a little awkward. The notes from previous years can be read from a very narrow column.
In short, I’m disappointed with this version so far.

Also, in the new entry column, when a location is added, the map image is only partially visible and it’s not possible to scroll down.

Hi everyone,
To help us better understand the keyboard freezing issue, could you please confirm if this is what’s happening: After typing in an entry for a bit, does the app switch to the Timeline view, and you have to tap back into the entry to continue typing?
Our developers are currently working on a fix for this specific issue.
-
Correct.
The app switches to a different part of the screen, most of the time the timeline (the new one). Then you have to click where you want to write, but a soon as you type, it jumps again and again.
Restarting the app does not help. -
Hi @jcdichant, @tharkin2015, and @srulyweinstein
We recently pushed a fix for the issue where focus moves from the keyboard to the timeline, in v.2025.6.2. If you haven’t already done so, would you update to the latest version and let us know if you’re still running into the issue?

After a couple of hours using the latest release, issue with Apple keyboard seems fixed.
I will let support know if I find out something else. -
