Mac not showing location, temps and weather
-
The Mac app does not seem to be adding location, weather and current temperature. I can only see the journal name and the step count. I see the same entry on IOS showing only coordinates. Once I change there to a location, its syncing correctly with the Mac app – newest iPhone 15 Pro Max, Mac M2 – all currents OSes and updates.
I know it worked a lil while ago. Any idea why this is happening?

If you open Apple Maps on the Mac, do you see your current location? Is the Mac connected to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet?
Are entries being created within the main app or the quick menu bar option?

I have the same issue. My mac IS showing current location in Apple Maps and I am connected to WiFi. The entries are being created within the main app.
I noticed this problem starting earlier this week, after updating to the newest OS. It was working fine in multiple locations over the past few weeks / months, prior to this.
I double-checked within my privacy settings that Day One has permission for location services, and it is currently turned ON. It is just not recognizing or posting the location anymore, when it was working perfectly last week. See screenshot below – shows weather, when last week it would show weather and location.

Can you try turning off that privacy setting, fully quitting the Day One Mac, and then turning the Location permission back on?
Let us know if that helps in adding the Location to your new Day One Entries. Please note this may only work for new entries and won’t apply to older/existing ones.

Thank you for checking and following up.
@emilyadell and @breakfastatolympusmons – Would you click on the Clip icon to navigate to Location > Open in Day One App?
Screenshot Link: https://d.pr/i/T0nH6D
Then, does your current location show up in Day One map?
I’m trying to determine if this is an issue with registering location for the app, or displaying the location in the journal.
-
Hi! My current location DOES show up in the Day One Map. But it doesn’t display in the journal.
-
Thanks for confirming @emilyadell. I submitted a bug report on your behalf, so our development team will look into this issue.
-
Thank you. Could you email me when it is addressed? Is there any incentive that can be offered for dealing with the bug issue? It’s an impediment to my successful use of Day One, unfortunately.
-
@emilyadell We will update this thread, which should email you then, when the issue is corrected. We do not offer any incentive for such issues.
-
@breakfastatolympusmons I figured out a hack: if you go to “change location” you can input the location for the entry manually. Once I did one of them it added locations to all of the erroneous ones that had not previously been showing location.
-
Hi @emilyadell,
Thank you for sharing your workaround! We appreciate your effort in finding a solution. We have already opened a bug report for this issue, and our development team is actively working on resolving it. -
I’m having this exact issue (no weather or location information loading on Mac app). I’ve checked Mac settings and it’s all good. Please advise.
-
Hi, I am having the exact same issue with regard to location/weather data.
I am running version 2024.14 (1570). macOS 14.5. -
Thanks, @shaycam and @gtcwygpgcx. May we have you send diagnostics from Day One on Mac to support? Day One > Settings > Support > Email diagnostics. Please put “Issue 385 – location on Mac” in the email subject.
-
Hi James, I am a plus user and I have no option showing email diagnostics. It shows “Export diagnostics”. When I click that, it asks me where I want to export it to. I tried attaching screenshots to show you but it says I’m not allowed to post any photos in this forum.
-
Hello @gtcwygpgcx!
It shows “Export diagnostics”. When I click that, it asks me where I want to export it to.
The option to email should pop up after this. You should be able to email them as your export option. Please let us know if you’re not seeing this.
-
Hi James,
The email option does appear but it opens the Mail app and attaches the diagnostic zip file. The email “To:” field is blank. If you tell me what the email is where I need to send the diagnostic data, I can input it manually and send it, as well as add the subject line.
Thanks!

Are you creating entries within the main app, or are you using the quick menu bar option?
