Mac iOS Upgrade

Hi, Have been using DAY ONE for years on my Mac. The version I have been using is version 1.10.6. Apple updated the iOS recently to Tahoe 26.6 and now I can not access my DAY ONE app. The message I get is:

“/Applications/Day One Classic.app” does not support the latest receipt validation requirements. Please contact the developer for support.

I haven’t a clue what to do with this. Sent an email as suggested and waiting for a response. Has anyone else run into an issue like this? If so, how did you fix it? If it turns out that I have to get the latest version of DAY ONE, that version have allow me to see all of my previous journal entries from version 1.10.6?

    Thank you.

  • Hi @justinewalker59bb4699b2,

I see that you’re using our original legacy app, Day One Classic (version 1). This version has been retired since March 2016. We have received reports that it no longer works on devices with iOS 15 and later.

We have some import options listed below:

    macOS 12 or later

    1. The device will need to be signed into iCloud/App Store with your Apple ID
    2. Download the new Day One on your Mac. [Day One Mac](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/day-one/id1055511498?mt=12)
    3. Add the app to your dock.
    4. Open the Terminal app. It is in Applications > Utilities
    5. Paste this command and hit Return: open ~/Library/Mobile Documents/5U8NS4GX82~com~dayoneapp~dayone/Documents/
    6. It should open a Finder window with a folder. Let me know if it doesn’t.
    7. Copy that folder and paste to a folder like “Downloads” in Finder.
    8. Rename the folder “Journal.dayone” (replacing the underscore with a period).
    9. Accept the message in the dialog box.
    10. Open the new Day One.
    11. Click File > Import > Classic File and choose that file in the Downloads folder.

You can find the above information in this guide as well:

I had the same problem. In case it helps someone else: The terminal line above didn’t work for me because I think it didn’t like the space in “Mobile Documents” and read it as two separate paths. open ~/Library/Mobile Documents/5U8NS4GX82~com~dayoneapp~dayone/Documents/ worked. Got everything imported into the new Day One. Thanks!

Looks like I pasted the wrong line. Unless something gets stripped when I post. Should be open ~/Library/Mobile Documents/5U8NS4GX82~com~dayoneapp~dayone/Documents/

Thank you. I followed the steps you provided and they worked perfectly. I was able to transfer my Day One Classic journal entries. Thank you so much!

Ah, the fix gets stripped when you post it. 🙃 My second comment is wrong too! Basically, what’s needed is a backslash right after “Mobile”, before the space.
