Location History

One of my favorite features of DayOne is the location tracking. The location is only logged if you create an entry. I would like the ability to import all my location history for the day — went here, went there, etc — just like it is in Google Maps Location History. I’m not going to stand around Lowe’s and log that I was there but I’d like to keep that in my journal.

Location use is confusing in Day One.
There is a way to create a global note to list your daily locations.
Tap on “Today”.
Choose the day you want.
Locations for this day will be listed.
Tap on the list, then “Daily resume (all)”.
This will create a new entry with all locations and time as text in the note.

I granted the app location access all the time, but nothing was happening, just getting my home address because that’s where I was writing entries.
Not sure what I did but I was out and about a lot today and they all just showed up automagically. I was going to experiment with just opening the app when I arrived at a location, but I forgot to do that after a stop or two, and somehow it’s all in there. Weird.

@jonesdjd4ce4e7c6d I hope you were able to get the Location History working.
If not, if I may offer a helpful tip: try opening the phone Settings app, go to Day One, select Location, choose Always (assuming you already have it), then make sure “Precise Location” is enabled as well.

With new Day One layout, location history for a specific day has disappeared, or I did not find out where it is.
Any input will be appreciated as this was a way to log my trips, but it is not anymore. -
Hi @jcdichant. It can still be accessed in the Today view. Tap Calendar at the top of the app, then tap a date. The Today view for that day will appear and the Places section is still present.
Alternatively, go to the journal sidebar/drawer on the left and tap Today.

I’ve noticed that location history is only available for iOS devices. My wife has an Android phone and the location history setting is completely missing from her settings. Will this come to Android?

@ps86wq2th9 Thanks for the feedback! We understand the importance of location history and appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Your suggestion has been noted. The number of requests we receive for specific features helps our developers prioritize for future updates.
In the meantime, you can go to the Places section to see a list of locations you have visited.
