Listing of Plus app features?
-
Hello. Long-time DO user, currently on the Plus (grandfathered) level – I left Premium in June 2023.
I found this page which lists the high-level differences among the levels: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/premium-subscription/day-one-pricing-features-guide/. However, I’m back in the Mac app after a long time away, and certain features seem not to work anymore, like global hot key and menu bar access. These features aren’t listed in the URL above.
Are these now considered Premium features? If so, is there a list somewhere that shows which parts of the app are “turned off” because I’m not Plus instead of Premium? It would be helpful to know what’s disabled due to my tier, and what might be a technical issue.
Thanks.

Hello @rfbriggs,
The menu bar entry option should be available to all users, no matter the tier they are using.
I noticed mine wasn’t showing, so I disabled the setting and enabled it again, and it popped right up in the menu bar. Maybe try doing that if you haven’t yet.
Day One > Settings > General > Menu Bar Entry > Toggle off and back on
Also, make sure you have reminders enabled for this to work.
As for hot keys, what are you trying to use exactly? Those shouldn’t be a tier issue either.

Thanks. I tried all of that, and it didn’t work. Day One is enable in the system notifications, and the Reminders are turned on. I have come out and come back in.
The hot keys are the Global Menu Bar shortcut, listed right under the Menu Bar settings.
I have screen shots that I can post to show you what I see, but evidently I’m not allowed to upload them here.
Since I have had DO for many years, I’m pretty confident that I know how to set up these settings. They just don’t work anymore. If it’s useful, I’m on macOS Ventura.

It sounds like this is related to an issue our developers were working on recently. We just released an update to the Mac app that should fix this. Please update Day One to version 2024.1.1 on the App Store if you haven’t done so already.

When I checked the “About”, I’m already on that version. No need to update. So it sounds like whatever issue I’m having didn’t get fixed.
