Language Transcription in Audio Recording
-
I need help changing the language setting for the audio transcription.
-
Hello! 👋
The language for transcription is based on the device language settings. Go to Settings > General > Language & Region.
Hope this helps!

That would be nice if it could be separated.
I have my iPhone in English but I can and would like to record short audios in different languages. It would be better to allow a different setting, for example, connected to the digital keyboard we are using at a specific moment (I have 5 different keyboards installed).
You could match the same way the voice recognition transcription for the iPhone is working. If I change the keyboard, the iPhone’s audio recording is changing too, Day One’s recording should change too.
Thanks

Hello, plus one on this feature request.
My phone language is English. Yesterday I recorded audio in Dutch, which was transcribe pretty accurately, and in English, which was transcribed in broken Dutch.
How did that happen?

I’ve added your vote for our team to consider. Thanks for the feedback!

Audio transcription on my iPhone defaults to English although all iOS settings (generic and Day One specific) are referring to Dutch (as primary language).
I would like to be able to use transcription in Dutch. Can you please advice.

Thanks for that additional information, @kj75ycghxc!
Just to clarify, the feature request in this thread is for transcribing audio based on the keyboard language setting, as opposed to on-device setting.
In your case, however, it sounds like when the keyboard is switched to Dutch, the audio transcription is working as expected, in Dutch; is that correct?

Hi,
I’d like to follow up on this request. Is transcription in a language different from iOS added to the product roadmap? If yes, when should we expect the release?
-
The feature request is logged on our internal issue tracker, but not currently tied to a specific release, so we don’t have an ETA at the moment.
You can get up-to-date information on new features by checking the Release Notes on the Day One iOS App Store and Mac App Store pages, and checking our website for future feature announcements.
I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
