journal entry resurfacing at multiple periods customisable per journal
-
TLDR – could we have ability to add a number of durations to a journal which will resurface entries in the TODAY view. For example, for my Morning Pages journal I’d like to review previous entries from yesterday, day before, a week ago, a month ago, a year ago and maybe 2 years ago. At the moment, I’d only see notes from exactly 1, 2, 3, etc years ago, which isn’t much use for ongoing thought reflection. Should be customisable by journal, because I don’t want to see other journals like that.

Hi, I’ve been using ROAM Research for a long time for capturing all my ‘stuff’… work notes, Morning Pages, mood capture, general notes, hobby stuff. It was handy as a single place, but I have other issues with ROAM so have been moving all my personal thinking and memories to Day One instead. It’s much better for that. But one thing that’s missing for me is about re-surfacing entries. Yes, you have ‘On this Day’… but it’s fixed (as far as I can tell) to only a yearly interval. That’s, what’s the word…pleasant… for memories as it’s unexpected reminder. But for something like morning pages or goal reflections it’s just too big a gap. I’d like to be able to review entries on a shorter cycle, and for some stuff more than once. eg the next day, a few days later, a week, a month, a year.
So on a per journal basis, one could add a number of time intervals and entries would be presented on the TODAY screen if they were created one of those intervals ago.
Writing is only one aspect of journalling… you need to review your thoughts. As it stands, you have to be using the app for an entire year before you would even notice the ‘On This Day’ feature. Unless I don’t understand it right.
Thanks or listening!

It would still be good to get annual resurfacing like at present, so perhaps you can add durations as a number of days, number of weeks, number of months… and then an option for Annually. Then we don’t lose what’s already there.
You have to have been a user for years to actually get the benefit of On This Day as it stands. I know some users have a backlog of many years, but it’s this sort of feedback that encourages journalling behaviour so I’m surprised it’s only annually right now.

I’ll share your idea with the team for further consideration. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us :-)
