Journal does not appear, does not sync
-
I can see my journal if I access DayOne on the web, but if I use the app, the journal does not appear. Why? I can see the journal on all of my devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone), but I can’t see it on my MacBook Air. Is it a syncing issue? Do I need an updated OS? Any advice would be appreciated.

So to clarify: on your Mac, the Day One app opens successfully but you do not see the journal that you see when using the web version of Day One?
From what I’ve seen in this forum and in the Facebook group for Day One, the most likely reason for a situation like this has been the use of different logins or user IDs. With the web version, you have to log in using a user name (email?) and a password. But what about the Mac?
If you have the native macOS app, there are two ways to log in to the Day One system. One is with a user name and password. But you can also sign in with Apple. Those two options are mutually exclusive.
To get an idea what your Mac is using:
- Run the Day One app.
- Choose the menu command Day One > Settings > Sync.
On the Sync page, you’ll see options. That’s your starting point.
Of course, all of the above assumes that you already have synchronization enabled on the Mac.

You are a genius, sir. Now the question is how do I change my login information on my MacBook Air? I don’t see a way to do that.

Mmmm. In the 14 years I’ve been using Day One, I’ve never signed in with Apple. I started out with a user name (email address) and password, and have been doing that ever since. So, I’m not sure of the exact text on the buttons of the Sync page for signing out of “with Apple”.
You apparently need to sign in using a user name and password—the same one you use for the web version. In the bottom left corner of the Sync page is a button that will have a caption of either Sign Out or Sign In, depending on your current state. I imaging that if you sign out from Apple, the button will show Sign In. You would simply need to click that button and sign in with your user name and password when prompted.

Steve, I found how to do it, and I changed my login information. Thank you very much. This was driving me insane.

Glad to hear that your problem was resolved and you are now rocketing through the journal-o-sphere. I’m very happy I could be of help.
