Issues with menu bar

Hello – I’m having issues with the menu bar icon. When I click on it, it alternates between showing a short option menu (reminders, preferences, quit or open day one) and actually showing the quick note. Is there any way to stop it from showing the option menu on clicking? It is annoying to have to click twice just to get a note. Also, when in full screen for another app (i.e. Safari), the menu bar note disappears if I move my cursor at all. Is this a bug? Does someone know if Day One is working to fix this?

Hi, @wfphvrwcv7! It looks like you’re using the Mac app.
To start, can you please share the following information with us?
- The OS and OS version on your device – you can usually find this from your Mac’s Settings
- Your Day One app version – you can see this by having the Day One Mac app active, then clicking Day One > About Day One on the menu bar
If you could also use a file-sharing service to share a screen recording with us that demonstrates the issue, that would be much appreciated!

Hi, I’ve had the issue with the menu bar alternating between a menu and the quick entry box as well. I believe it has only been on Sonoma, but it’s happened after setting up Day One on 2 different Macs. Currently on Sonoma 14.2, Day One version 2023.25 (1526), but it was happening on the last 2 Sonoma releases as well.
I can do a screen recording, but I’m pretty sure it is the exact same thing wfphvrwcv7 is describing.

@edglazer and @wfphvrwcv7 Are you seeing the same options when you right-click or option click on the menu bar icon?
I’ve clicked on that icon about 25 times now and cannot reproduce what you’re seeing.
Is there any pattern either of you are noticing when this happens?

Thanks for your response. When I control-click on the menu bar icon I get the same menu, yes:
Enable reminders
Add location
open day one
preferences
quit day one
The pattern appears to be every other time i click on the menu bar icon, it is that drop down menu. It goes back and forth between that and the quick entry.

@edglazer3f77220951 I just tested this again and was able to reproduce this finally. I captured a video for the development team and will get their eyes on this.
