Is there a User Manual for Day One?

Hi. I am a long-time journal-keeper going back 20 years or so. I have been using the Journal component of Outlook in the old Microsoft Office XP suite, but that was discontinued long ago. This has meant me running Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine on Parallels Desktop ever since I changed over to Macs about 12 years ago. But of course the new Macs do not have Intel chips in them, which means that Parallels will not run Windows 7 on them, which means that I will not be able to continue with Outlook XP when I get a new Mac, which I think I will need to do sooner rather than later.
And so I have been looking for an alternative means of keeping a journal, and Day One looks to be the best Mac app.
But I can’t seem to get going with it. In the Getting Started section I keep seeing things like, ‘on the home screen click on the text button to add text’. But, having downloaded and installed Day One on my Mac I cannot even find the home screen, let alone a ‘text button’ anywhere to add text entries.
Is there such a thing as a ‘Day One For Dummies’ document that starts guidance from initial download, installation and launch?
TIA
Robin M

Thanks Gladitude2, that seems to be what I needed. Not sure about the other response, which doesn’t seem relevant to me.
