Is Mac app getting attention?

I’m wondering because there are a lot of little glitchy things that have bothered me about it for years. For example, when I’m scrolling through a lot of entries to find one, the month listed at the top of the timeline doesn’t update accurately. Like right now I’m trying to find a specific entry in May and I scrolled down so fast I got into the April entries without realizing it because it still says May at the top! Maybe Day One for Mac can’t handle my habit of making 10-20 short entries per day? Or can’t handle scrolling?

Also, I can’t see my Shared Journal on my Mac. I just did my PDF export backup of my May entries and realized it doesn’t include the Shared Journal I made with my walking buddy last month because I export on my Mac. When will I get to see my Shared Journal on my Mac?

I’m not able to remember another specific example at the moment, but I definitely know I’ve been using Day One on the Mac with occasional small annoyances for years, always brushed away with hope that it will get better. My first example above is one of the worst glitches though because I do a lot of trying to navigate through my entries as I add old stuff to the past. (And I do have separate journals for each year, so I’m not navigating all 39,440 of my entries in one journal!) So it just got me to wonder if the team is prioritizing the iPhone app and neglecting the Mac app?

These are some good questions! I can tell you’re one of our power users of the Mac app :-)

We would love to know about all the little glitchy things! If you can share a screen recording of what you’re seeing that would be lovely. I just tried to replicate the one you’re seeing, where the month listed at the top of the timeline doesn’t update accurately, but I can’t seem to make it happen. Getting a visual on exactly what’s happening for you will help us dig in.

It sounds like you are a Plus or Premium users, since you have multiple Journals, so please, reach out to us directly from the app next time you see an issue for quick email support.

When will I get to see my Shared Journal on my Mac?

This is on our road map, but we don’t have a date we can share. For now, I encourage you to use our web app when you want to see your shared Journals on your Mac: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-on-the-web/getting-started-on-the-web

it just got me to wonder if the team is prioritizing the iPhone app and neglecting the Mac app?

We’ve had quite a few priorities we’ve been juggling, between the launch of the web app, Shared Journals and other features. I agree, the Mac app could use some love now. Our development team has noticed the Mac App needs our attention too, and it’s on our list of priorities for the future.
